National Fellowship 100+ Interview Questions & Preparation Guide (Bonus)

This list of question consolidates more than a decades' worth of various questions asked across several National Fellowship interview weekends. After you submit your application, there are two aspects of your candidacy you can control: 1) online presence (if you shared a personal website link, social media profiles, etc. you can influence reviewers who look you up online) and 2) the interview weekend.

Only hundreds (of the tens of thousands of candidates) who apply for national fellowships like the Rhodes, Marshall, Schwarzman, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge, Luce, etc. will receive an interview. This is the final step before being selected as a winner, and you have to be well prepared to execute your plan during this rigorous and stressful period.

These 100+ Questions come from 1) my own experiences interviewing and winning national fellowships 2) the experiences of those who I have voluntarily supported over the last decade (dozens who have won) and 3) my years of experience being involved fellowship programs directly. Some of these questions were asked in real interviews, and others are potential questions that may arise this year during 'selection weekend.'
